McGuire, Gertrude H. “Gertie”

Gertrude H. “Gertie” McGuire, 91, of 145 Elk Avenue, Kane, died early Wednesday evening, June 18, 2014 at the Kane Community Hospital after a brief illness.
Born October 4, 1922 in Kane, she was the daughter of Giles and Marie Anderson Conklin. On August 31, 1943 in Kane, she married James P. McGuire, who died in 1976.
Gertie was a waitress at the former Arcade Restaurant in the 1960s, and later worked at Stackpole for many years, both in Kane. She was a member of The Presbyterian Church in Kane, a long-time member of the Mountain Grange #1307 in Kane, and volunteered at the Salvation Army in Kane for many years.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Perryman of Ridgway; three sons, Paul McGuire of Millerstown, Thomas “Turtle” McGuire of Mt. Jewett and John McGuire of Warren, plus fifteen grandchildren, including Jodi Jafari of Florence, Italy; twenty-four great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her husband and parents, by a sister and three brothers, and a niece, Maridel Conklin.
Friends may call at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane on Friday from 6:00 until 8:00, and are invited to a funeral service at 11:00 on Saturday at The Presbyterian Church in Kane with the rev. Rebecca Taylor, pastor, officiating. Interment will have taken place earlier Saturday morning at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
