Margaret E. “Peg” Cunningham, 83, of 3165 Rte. 219, Kane, passed away Saturday (June 14, 2014) at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born February 8, 1931, in Pine Run, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Hazel Transue Housler. On April 29, 1988, she married Thomas E. Cunningham who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Cunningham had worked at Stackpole for twenty-five years. She later was a cook at Kane Community Hospital from which she retired. She was a charter member of the Hamlin Township Firemen’s Ladies Auxiliary.
As a pastime she was an avid bingo player, golfer, and loved to fish.
Surviving are three sons, Lyle (Bonnie) Himes of Bradford, Eugene (Cathy) Himes of Hazel Hurst and Randy (Janice) Himes of Marvindale; two daughters, Brenda (Gary) Gilligan of Kane and Cathy (Brad) Paulson of Mt. Jewett; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and four sisters, Gail Baker and Pat Nestlerode, both of Hazel Hurst, Hazel Kelley of Mt. Jewett and Thelma Beckwith of Springville, NY.
Preceding her in death, besides her husband and parents, were four brothers, Claude Housler, Jr., Charles Housler, Richard Housler and Robert Housler.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane where a funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. W. Craig Smith, pastor of the Mt. Jewett/Hazel Hurst United Methodist Churches, officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hamlin Township Fire Department.
