Tanner, Kathleen J. "Kathy"

Kathleen J. “Kathy” Tanner, 66, of 108 Biddle Street, Kane, died early Tuesday morning, June 3, 2014 at The Lutheran Home at Kane. Born March 6, 1948 in Marienville, she was the daughter of Lewis H. and Olivia R. Greene Riggs. On August 30, 1969 in Las Vegas, she married Chris E. Tanner, who died in 1997. Kathy had been an Avon representative, a housekeeper and caregiver, then enrolled in college to become an accountant and tax preparer. She also owned and operated Tanner’s Tea Room Bed & Breakfast in James City for sixteen years, where she hosted many tea parties. She attended Emmanuel Mission Church in Kane where she taught Sunday School. An avid reader, she belonged to a book club, enjoyed cooking and was a skilled baker. Surviving are a daughter, Debbie Faulkner of Stevensville, Mont.; a son, Dan Tanner of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Sherry Jenkins of Kane and two brothers, Larry Riggs in North Carolina and Wesley Merle Riggs of Corry. Four grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive, plus several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death, besides her husband and parents, are five brothers and four sisters. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 1:00 on Thursday at the Emmanuel Mission Church with Kathy’s friend, the rev. Nancy Page, officiating. Interment will follow privately in Greenwood Cemetery near Cook Forest. Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Mission Church, 108 Biddle St., or to the Friends’ Memorial Public Library, 230 Chase St., both in Kane, PA 16735.
