Beverly A. Sweetapple

Beverly A. Sweetapple, 83 of Bradford, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014 at the Bradford Manor. She was born September 7, 1930 in Clintonville, PA, a daughter of the late Willis and Mary Meals Sweetapple. She was a 1949 graduate of the Bradford Area High School.

She received 1 ½ years of Nursing training at Buffalo General Hospital and another 1 ½ years of training at Clearfield Hospital (Penn State). She was an employee of Zippo Manufacturing and an employee of the business offices of Bradford Hospital. Ms. Sweetapple was a United States Navy veteran. She was a twenty year volunteer for the former Bradford Special Police and a member of the Marche club.

She is survived by one brother, Lee Sweetapple of Greensboro, GA, one sister, Wilma Whitby of Tucson, AZ, and many nieces and nephews including her brother’s three daughters: Joan (Mike) Campbell, Anne (Jim) Reed, and Mary (Dr. Richard) Schellhammer of Tuscaloosa, AL all of whom she helped raise, and Matthew and Nathan Reed, Mary Maegan (Bryan) Schellhammer of MS, R. Lorelei (Philip) Worland of MS and P. Kiersten Schellhammer of Tuscaloosa (she was a proud “Grandma-Bev” to all five kids) and one great grandson, Philip John Worland, Jr. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

At her request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Private graveside services will be held at Willow Dale Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to the Bradford Area Public Library, 67 West Washington St., Bradford, PA 16701.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc.
