PA Residents Urged to Claim $31 Million In Unclaimed Refunds that Are About to Expire

Nearly 40,000 Pennsylvanians Have Unclaimed Tax Refunds From 2010- This April is Last Chance to Claim These Refunds / Median Unclaimed Refund is $614 Per Person

IRS_optWashington, DC- With tax day approaching, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) urged Pennsylvanians to claim $31 million in unclaimed tax refunds that are set to expire if not claimed during this tax season. Nearly 40,000 Pennsylvanians have unclaimed tax refunds from 2010 that amount to a median benefit of $614 per person.

“I’m encouraging all Pennsylvanians who think they might have an unclaimed refund to use the resources available from the IRS to get their money,” Senator Casey said. “Claiming these refunds will help families’ pocketbooks and also boost the economy. Many residents don’t even know they have an unclaimed refund so it’s very important that Pennsylvanians use these resources to check.”

In Pennsylvania the IRS says that 37,400 Pennsylvanians have a refund that is about to expire with a median refund of $614 totaling $31,009,000. Current and prior year tax forms and instructions are available on the Forms and Publications page of IRS.gov or by calling toll-free 800-TAX-FORM (800-829-3676).

Taxpayers who believe their refund check may have been returned to the IRS as undelivered should use the “Where’s My Refund?” tool on IRS.gov. The tool will provide the status of their refund and, in some cases, instructions on how to resolve delivery problems.
