Geraldine Grego

Geraldine Grego, 89, of Bradford, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the Bradford Ecumenical Home. She was born on March 12, 1924 in Bradford, a daughter of the late John and Carmel Pepe DeSantis.

She was a 1942 graduate of the St. Bernard School. She was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church; she was formerly the vice president of the Italian Festival when her brother Louis DeSantis organized it.

She was employed by various local businesses as a book keeper; finally retiring in the 1980’s from the former Bradford Tax Keeping. She is survived by two daughters, Diane Gardner of Limestone, Judy Gates of Bradford; one step son, Jim (Sharon) Marasco of California; one step daughter, Mary Bartsch of Arizona; one sister-in-law, Loretta DeSantis of Bradford; two grandsons, Brian Gates of Bradford, Darold Gardner of Rochester; three granddaughters, Dina Gates of Bradford, Jill Gardner and Pam Gardner both of Rochester; three step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by three husbands, two brothers, one sister and two son-in-laws.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc., where a prayer service will be held at 10:15 AM Friday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Bernard Catholic Church with the Rev. Stephen Collins, pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to the St. Bernard Church building fund, P.O. Box 2394, Bradford, PA 16701 or the St. Bernard School, 450 West Washington St., Bradford, PA 16701. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc.
