Jacqueline Y. “Turkey” Rhoades
Jacqueline Y. “Turkey” Rhoades, 70, of Bradford, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at the Pavilion at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
She was born on June 20, 1943 in Bradford, a daughter of the late Louis and Freda Smith Gardner. On February 6, 1962 in the Grace Lutheran Church, Bradford, she married Stanley I. Rhoades, who survives.
She was a 1961 graduate of the Bradford Area High School. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed making ceramics, routing for the Dallas Cowboys and going to the casino with her friends Shirley and Helen.
Her greatest passion was spending time with her grandchildren. She was employed by the former Congress Street Diner for ten years until they closed; at that time she started working for the former Parkview Supermarket; she worked there for fourteen years until they closed.
In addition to her husband of fifty one years, Stanley Rhoades, Bradford, she is also survived by two sons, Joseph (Jamie) Rhoades and Adam (Abbie) Rhoades, all of Bradford, four sisters, June Hand, Derrick City, Joanne VanOrden, Betty Jean Austin, both of Bradford, Norma Walters, Tioga, four grandsons, David, Nathan, Dustin, Andrew Rhoades all of Bradford and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert Gardner and one sister Joy Henderson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Kennedy St., Bradford. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Patrick Cox, pastor of the Grace Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
