Henry Feikls

Henry P. Feikls, 89, of Kane, passed away Wednesday Sept. 25, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Kane, Pa., after a lengthy illness. He was born March 3, 1924, in Erie, Pa., a son of the late Rudolph and Mary Mraz Feikls. He attended Rasselas School and graduated from Wilcox High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was stationed in Africa, Italy and the Pacific. He retired from the Sears store in Kane, and previously worked at Kane Manufacturing Corp.; the R.W. Norris Co. in Warren; and Jakes Auto Parts in Kane. In recent years, he worked with his son Joseph at Joe Props Shop in Kane. He was a member of St. Callistus Church in Kane; and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus; and the American Legion, where he served two terms as commander.

He married Eulalia Manno of Kane in 1947 at St. Callistus Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Gibbs and her husband, Philip of Moorestown, N.J.; and Diana Stricker and her husband Sam of East Haven, Ct.; three sons, Thomas Feikls and his wife Carol of Malibu, Calif.; Joseph Feikls and his wife Josie of Kane; and Henry Feikls Jr. and his wife, the late Kathy Feikls, of Ludlow. He is also survived by a brother, Rudolph Feikls and his wife Joyce of Texas; a brother-in-law, Tom Oliver of Oregon; one step-granddaugher, Leah Klaiber; two step-grandsons, Randall Klaiber and Heath Klaiber;?? and several nieces and nephews.

The grandchildren include Mark Stricker and his wife Allyson; Alex Gibbs; Justin Feikls, John Feikls; Emily Feikls; Mason Feikls; and Ross Feikls who passed away in 1997. and two step great grandchildren Pearl and Brooks. There are two great-grandchildren, Tristan and Sawyer Stricker. Henry was also preceded in death by his sister, Doris Oliver; two brothers, Albert Feikls and Raymond Feikls; and a daughter-in-law, Julie Feikls.

Friends will be received on Sunday (Sept. 29) at Cummings Funeral Home from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 at St. Callistus Catholic Church with the Rev. Philip Pinczewski, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Callistus Cemetery.

If desired, memorials may be made to the St. Callistus Church building fund; the Lutheran Home of Kane; or a charity of one’s choice.
